Wow. I completely forgot that this blog of mine existed! I was attempting to write reviews and commentary of all the books I’ve read, but I have utterly failed to do so. Looking back at the ones I’ve already written, it really was very SURFACE/shallow stuff. I was just wanting to get it done and over with, no real passion for BLOGGING or reviewing. I think I need to take more time to actually write about a book. Maybe I’ll try this again, we’ll see. It’s very time consuming. I don’t have the patience or the verbal skills to write an intriguing review. But who the heck cares?! I never wrote this with the intention of having others view it, but with the hope I could list out all the books I have read. (and put reviews so I can actually remember it down the line – cause my memory SUCKS) ok. I need to sleep.

Ever

EverEver By Gail Carson Levine

I need to start writing down immediately what books I’ve read, because I almost forgot to put this one down. I feel like there were more I read, but I can’t remember. Bad memory sucks.

Anwyays this book was ok. I enojyed Levines other books more. I think the reason why this story was compelling was  the question of faith. I think this is a theme that many people can relate to. I certainly do.

Blue Bloods

bbBlue Bloods by Melissa De La Cruz

Ok. This one took me by surprise. I’ve seen it on display at bookstores for awhile now, but I wasn’t really that intrigued by the storyline. Rich people of New York (the elite ones) are the Blue Bloods…Vampires.

AH. Another vampire story. But surprisingly the storyline moved along quite well and I found myself quickly turning the pages to find out more. I’m going to have to take a trip to the library so I can get my hands on the next 2 books.

An Earthly Knight

earthlyknightAn Earthly Knight by Janet McNaughton

This is a Tam Lin story but told from the perspective of his love Jenny. Jenny’s family is disgraced when her sister Isabel ruins herself by running off with one of their knights. It is up to Jenny to bring back her family from shame, but she happens to meet this handsome man in the forest.

Princess Ben

pbPrincess Ben by Catherine Gilbert Murdock

This girl isn’t your typical Princess. She isn’t a raving beauty. She’s pudgy and can’t control her desires to eat. She is however witty and smart. Her parents are both killed by some unknown force. She’s convinced its the neighboring kingdom…

Her aunt (the queen) locks her away in a tower to teach her to become a better princess? oh and also to keep her safe. I kept expecting her Aunt to be the evil one, but turns out she’s not.

Princess Academy

Princess_AcademyPrincess Academy By Shannon Hale

I recently picked up this book to reread. I read it once before long ago. I enjoyed it then and I enjoyed it now. The story is of a young girl named Miri. Her people and family live on the mountains where they harvest rocks. Linder? To be exact. Anyways. All the local girls from her village/town? are gathered to go to a princess academy. There was a prophesy that the future queen would be found there. So off they go to get their training to be a proper princess. But the girls get captured by bandits but Miri saves the day because she discovers that she can “speak” to others from her town by holding the rocks.

Man. I really need to write these reviews right after reading the book, because its already becoming hazy. -_- I read too many other books afterwards…

Evermore

emlgEvermore by Alyson Noel

Ok. So reading this book I thought it seemed strangely familiar. Well a lot the sory seems an awfully like Twilight. There are some plot differences however. First off, Ever can see dead people. She can also see auras and hear what people think. Then of course Damen the new kid comes.  He’s handsome and rich…but she can’t see his aura.

Thats the basis of the book. The book was meh. It read too much like Twilight and just didn’t have the elements to catch me.

The Goose Girl

bsgoosegirl2 The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale

This book is exactly the reason why I love fantasy. It has all the action and romance that a girl can hope for. Ani is the Princess of a neighboring kingdom and on the way to get married to the next door prince her lady in waiting takes over and becomes the imposter princess. Oh yea. Ani also has animal speak and Selia has people speak. Meaning that Selia can persuade and talk in a way that makes people believe her. Ani can talk to some animals. So Ani becomes a goose girl and learns about the city and people around her.

The Long Winter

The Long Winter By Laura Ingalls Wilder

The Little House on the Praire series are a classic. These book series were one of my favorites as a child. I must have read each book literally hundreds of times. The Long Winter describes the events of when the local town experienced a very very hard winter. Almanzo Wilder and Cap Garland go on a wild goose chase to find wheat to save the town from starving. I have always loved the last 3 books of the series because they detail the start and eventual marriage of Almanzo and Laura. I must have been a romantic even as a child.

I can’t wait to have daughters so I can begin reading the series to them at bedtime.
